Robert König has been making Pinot Noirs for a couple of decades on the majestically sloped vineyards above Assmannshausen in the Rheingau. He is an eccentric fellow who makes traditional, oldstyle Pinots of considerable finesse and elegance. He's not out to impress people or win medals for his wines. He's just very down-to-earth.
Classic Pinot Noir Style, soft tannins, very rich. This wine was fermented on the skins, matured in big old oak barrels, and finished with malolactic fermentation.
