2010 Varner - Chardonnay Home Vineyard
Varner Wines, located in the Santa Cruz Mountains west of the San Francisco Bay in California, is a partnership between twin brothers Bob and Jim Varner. Under the Varner label, they make highly regarded Chardonnays, including their Varner 'Home Vineyard' Chardonnay. This wine is produced from 30-year-old vines planted on their own rootstock. From this fruit, winemaker Bob Varner's expression of Chardonnay contains rich tropical fruit, including hints of tangerine and lemon. The wine is full-bodied, with terrific minerality and good acidity. It has concentration and length and will drink well from now through next 7-10 years.
