The vineyards of Pernand-Vergelesses are located next to Aloxe-Corton and Savigny-les-Beaune, in a nice valley. They are very well oriented, facing East- South-Ouest. Their altitude varies from 260 to 380 m.
The Clos de la Croix de Pierre is located next to the famous premier cru « En Caradeux ». It is not far from the very typical village of Pernand.
The soil is calcarous and very stony on the surface. "Croix the pierre" represents a big cross at the entrance of the vineyard. Most of this vineyard is planted with Pinot Noir.
The grapes are pressed and then put in French oak barrels during 15 to 18 months.
Clos de la Croix de Pierre » is a very well-balanced wine, very straight with a nice structure. The vine has been planted rather recently.
It matches very well white meat, vegetable gratins and cheeses such as Comté and goat cheeses.
Jadot’s 2010 Pernand-Vergelesses Clos de la Croix de Pierre is rich, round and inviting. Layers of textured yellow stone fruits, smoke and spices wrap around the palate in this large scaled, expansive, hearty white. Some slightly rough edges remain, perhaps because the vines are still young, but this is, nevertheless, impressive. If the wine comes together more fully in bottle, it might merit an even higher rating. I retasted this after all the 2010 grand crus and it more than held its own! The 2010 is a great wine for the money. Anticipated maturity: 2014. #202Aug 2012
