The domaine’s 2010 Corton is a much different beast than the 2009. It has none of the early appeal of that year, but instead boasts gorgeous structure, firm tannins and beautifully delineated fruit. It is an energetic, vibrant wine endowed with significant floral lift, intense minerality and great overall balance. There is a cool austerity about the 2010 that will appeal to classicists. According to proprietor Jean-Charles le Bault de la Moriniere, the small, loose clusters of the vintage give the wine its powerful personality. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2030. #202 Aug 2012
A very subtle hint of wood frames the restrained, airy, cool and very fresh nose of green apple, citrus and lightly spiced pear aromas that introduce intensely mineral-driven flavors that possess a mouth feel of pure silk. There is ample dry extract that buffers well the very firm and bright acidity that supports the transparent, long and refined finish. This is beautifully well-balanced and while it's very early on, this appears that it will reach its apogee somewhat sooner than is typical. Comments: Don't miss! Issue 47
