In 1581, at the summit of a wonderful hill, south-west of Montalcino, the Villa of Argiano was built among vineyards and olive grooves. Under the management of Countess Noemi Marone Cinzano, Argiano embarked, in 1992 and thanks to the oenological guidance of the famous master Giacomo Tachis, in a journey committed only to the highest standards of quality and aimed at consolidating its position at the top of the coveted wine market. Giacomo Tachis’ unique role on Solengo will remain forever an untouchable axiom Adriano Bambagioni, Argiano’s supervising cellar master for over 20 years, and the Danish winemaker Hans Vinding-Diers, of world famous reputation, guarantee now the quality of the wines obtained from Sangiovese grosso, the autochthonous grape of Montalcino; ultimate expression of the terroir. The estate expands over 100 hectares in a particularly favorable geographical location: perfect year-round south exposure of the vineyards during midday; eocenic soil formed by marl limestone with some clayey areas; reasonable altitude and constant ventilation from the Maremma. All these essential prerogatives portray the uniqueness of Argiano’s wines. Besides Rosso and Brunello di Montalcino, the classical wines from the region, Solengo and Suolo represent the innovative side of this tradition-soaked estate. Recently introduced is the IGT Non Confunditur, blend of Sangiovese (40%) with 20% each of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot.
With deep ruby hues, it has a rich fruit aroma of red berries and soft smoky toast. Full-bodied wine, big and rich with ripe notes of raspberry, cinnamon and plum. The inherent sweetness of the Merlot acts as a bridge between the firm earthiness of the Sangiovese grape, the spicy blackcurrant of the Cabernet and the warm red fruit of the Syrah. Terrifically paired with homemade pastas, meat sauces, mushroom based sauces and/or tartufo.
Cherry and currant flavors mark this ripe, muscular red, which is well-integrated, with a hint of herbs on the dry finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese. Best from 2013 through 2018. 1,800 cases imported. Oct 15, 2012
