2009 Bouchard Père & Fils - Bonnes Mares

2009 Bouchard Père & Fils - Bonnes Mares

Created in Volnay in 1731, the Maison Bouchard Père & Fils has patiently assembled, over several generations, one of the finest domaines in Burgundy. Moreover, installed since 1820 at the Château de Beaune, it benefits, on this site classed "Monument Historique", from ideal natural conditions for leaving its precious bottles to age.

Over time, Bouchard Père & Fils assembled an exceptional domaine that today runs to 130 hectares of vineyard in the heart of the Côte d'Or - 12 of them classified as Grand Cru and 74 as Premier Cru. A unique patrimony in Burgundy, through its diversity and its prestigious appellations: Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, Corton, Corton-Charlemagne, Clos Vougeot, Chambertin, Beaune Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus, Volnay Caillerets, Meursault Perrières among many others. Names filled with history and emotion, which inspire excellence and respect for the terroir.

History and geography have moulded Burgundy into a veritable mosaic of appellations with countless nuances.

In the Côte d'Or, the hierarchy of appellations is illustrated on the hillsides of the vineyards slope: the Regional Appellations spread out on the plain, the Village Appellations are found essentially at the foot of the slope, while the Premiers Crus and Grands Crus generally occupy the heart of the hillside.

Since its foundation, there has always been a signature on every bottle of Bouchard Père & Fils wine. This signature guarantees the quality and origin of the contents of each bottle. It is the assurance, for the consumer, of tasting a wine worthy of the great terroirs of Burgundy and expressing as faithfully as possible their quality and identity. Bouchard Père & Fils

93 points Burghound:

In contrast to many of the wines in the range that are quite expressive, this is actually quite reticent if not downright mute with very ripe but elusive aromas of mocha, plum and spicy cassis. The extremely rich, powerful and concentrated big-bodied flavors possess a suave mouth feel as the sap almost completely buffers the unusually generous but quite serious and long finish. This is a classic Bonnes Mares in terms of its underlying architecture and should require between 15 and 20 years to be at its best. Drink: 2026+
