2008 Orin Swift - Zinfandel California Saldo
Through the success of his 'Prisoner' label, Orin Swift Cellars owner/winemaker Dave Phinney has gained access to some of the best Zinfandel vineyards in Northern California. This enables Dave to select his grapes from only the best producers to create exactly the wine he wants without being tied to any single appellation or vineyard. To give the wine a little more character, he blends in small amounts of Syrah and Petite Sirah with the Zinfandel. The end result is the Orin Swift 'Saldo' Zinfandel, which is rich, ripe, and full-bodied with aromas of black cherry and berries. The tannins are soft but the wine has a huge mid-palate. The soft, lush finish lingers. Drink now or hold and savor over the next five years. A great wine to serve with barbecue.
