2004 San Leonardo Vigneti delle Dolomiti
The Estate, founded in 1724, has a rich ancient past. The current owner, Marquis Carlo Guerrieri Gonzaga is the descendent of a famous Italian aristocratic family. The Marquises know how to yoke their aristocratic polish to a genuine rural simplicity. They do it spontaneously, directly involving all the people with they work to at Tenuta San Leonardo.

As a result the vineyards, home only to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, become more and more beautiful and the grapes even more delicious. The property spans over 300 hectares. Twenty of them are planted to vine. The cellar equipment includes stainless steel fermentation tanks and small and medium size oak barrels for aging. Vias Imports

-The estate’s 2004 San Leonardo is probably the finest wine I have ever tasted from this property. Gorgeous, well-defined aromatics lead to layers of sweet dark fruit, grilled herbs, cassis, plums and blackberries, all framed by finessed tannins. The wine remains quite primary, muscular and in need of serious aging, but even at this early stage it is clear that the 2004 San Leonardo is awesome juice. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.
