La Mondotte is one of only two wines that earned Premier Grand Cru Classe status, after having been a previously unclassified, St. Emilion wine. Unbelievable nose of black truffle, meat and blackberry. Breathtaking. Full-bodied and very tight, with superpolished tannins and a finish that goes on for minutes. Really is exceptional. Still a baby; give it years. I am blown away. Keeps coming with truffles. Every time I taste it, it gets better.'88/'98 Bordeaux retrospective (2008). Best after 2011. 800 cases made. –JS
