El Tesoro de Don Felipe Tequilas have been hand made for over 70 years, using the most traditional tequila making methods. Made of 100% Blue Agave which is estate grown near their distillery in La Alteña in the state of Jalisco, Mexico. Once the agaves are harvested, the workers cut the piñas in half by hand, not machine, allowing them to remove entirely the waxy stem which, if left, can impart a bitter taste to the tequila. El Tesoro de Don Felipe slow cooks the piñas, steaming them in brick and stone ovens for 36 hours, and then uses a traditional tahona wheel made of stone, weighing one ton, to crush the cooked piñas. While it is common to ferment the juice only, El Tesoro de Don Felipe keeps the piñas through each stage of the production, enhancing the agave flavor. After natural fermentation in large wood vats, the mosto (fermented matter) is double distilled in copper kettles. El Tesoro is one of the only 100% blue agave tequilas double-distilled to exactly 80 proof and bottled without adding water.

El Tesoro de Don Felipe Platinum is un-aged and bottled immediately within 24 hours of distillation. It is smooth and clear and excellent for mixing drinks. 80 Proof.
