Aberlour 'A'Bunadh' Single Malt Scotch 119.8 Proof , $63.99

This is a powerhouse Speyside whisky. It is Batch #19 in a series of cask strength whiskies aged primarily in Oloroso sherry casks. Batches 1-18 have had their dedicated fans. After cutting through the waxed top, out pours whisky at 119.8 proof, the style enjoyed by older generations of whisky drinkers. Undiluted, legs of glycerin coat your glass and the aromatics are heady. Use a glass of pure bottled water to adjust the whisky to your favorite drinking strength. The aromatics become more engaging with lots of caramel, toffee, and burnt sugar.

Edradour '10 Years' Single Malt Scotch, $48.99

Our Spirits buyer visited Edradour last summer. Edradour is located in the Highlands about two hours north of Edinburgh. It is situated in the hills above the popular tourist town Pitlochry, alongside a flowing stream. This is Scotland’s smallest distillery, and a visit here takes one back through time. Some of the distillery’s equipment could almost be considered antique. Only a small amount of barrels are produced here each week. The 10 year old is the workhorse here. It is clean and classic whisky. It’s very nicely balanced, supple and golden, with flavors of barley, honey and almonds.

Glendronach '25 Years' 1968 Single Malt Scotch, $369.00

It is truly surprising that this phenomenal Sherry cask whisky is still available. This whisky was bottled in 1993. It was sold out quickly. Cases of this malt were lost for 10 years in an evidently rather poorly inventoried warehouse. When they were 'rediscovered', we snatched up as much of this whisky as we could several years ago. Our supply is dwindling. This is 100% Sherry cask aged. It is very dark and brooding and delivers head-turning aromatics coupled with a powerful finish. Not for the faint of heart!

Glenfarclas 'Beltramo's Sherry Cask' 15 Years 1990 94 Proof Single Malt Scotch, $104.99

Our Spirits Buyer visited Glenfarclas, one of the few family-owned distilleries in Scotland. With the help of George Grant, who represents the sixth generation of Grants working at the distillery, he was able to procure a very special sherry cask of 15 year old whisky. “We sampled many different casks until we had a nice collection of whiskies of various styles and different ages. After a very thorough comparative tasting, this 1990 Sherry cask was a standout.” This is not your typical elegant Speyside malt. It has very showy vanilla and burnt caramel aromatics. It is very spicy, very rich, and very sherry. This cask was bottled at the distillery at 94 Proof.

Glenfarclas ‘1968’ Single Malt Scotch, $289.99

This is a real treat for lovers of Speyside whiskies. It has traditional flavors of grain, honey, citrus, floral notes, spice and an underlying sweetness. The finish is complex, long, and excellent. This is a limited edition release.

Highland Park 'Beltramo's Sherry Cask #2498 ' 19 Years 1986 107.6 Proof, $119.99

On a visit to Scotland our Spirits Buyer flew to the windswept Orkney Islands to find another exclusive cask of whisky for Beltramo’s. About ten casks were sampled and then tasted with the entire Highland Park line. This remarkable sherry cask offers the refined Island malt style that Scotland’s northernmost distillery is famous for and also a singular richness and punch that this cask imparts. There are slightly smoky nuances on the nose and hints of sea air. We recommend adding a judicious amount of pure spring water to this whisky to tone down the proof and bring out its aromatics. We have shipped bottles of this whisky to back to Scotland to collectors there.

Highland Park '21 Years' Bicentennial 1977 Single Malt Scotch, $165.00

The Master Distiller at Highland Park pulled out all of the stops for the Distillery’s 200th Anniversary. This whisky has incredible elegance and a very long, smooth finish. Honey, nuts, spice and subtle smoke abound in your glass. This whisky was sold out in the marketplace several years ago. A hidden stash was discovered in the back of a warehouse in the East Coast.
We purchased every bottle available.

No more bottles of this incredible 40 year old whisky exist at the distillery. When we opened a bottle, the amazing aromatics filled the air before a single glass was poured. Without a doubt one of the top five whiskies we’ve ever tasted. A must for any serious whisky collector!

Lagavulin '16 Years' Single Malt Scotch, $64.99

For years Lagavulin was our top-selling single malt whiskey. Customers couldn’t get enough of its smoke/sherry cask interplay. The distillery ran into a production snag trying to keep up with unanticipated world demands. Lagavulin is now released in small batches, though at times a few extra cases become available. The whisky still features heavy doses of smoked bacon, iodine, peat, and a touch of maple syrup.

Macallan 'Sherry Oak Cask' 18 Years Single Malt Scotch, $123.99

Macallan continues to offer an impeccable 18 year old whisky that has rightly earned praise and acquired devotees. It is regarded by many to be the benchmark Speyside whisky that is aged in sherry casks. It’s hard not to be impressed by the richness, balance, layers of flavors, and outright smoothness one finds in this whisky. The price has gone up over the last few years, but the whisky is still worth it.

Talisker '13 Years' 1992 Distiller's Edition Single Malt Scotch 91.6 Proof, $71.99

Our Spirits Buyer first tasted the Distiller’s Edition last summer at a whisky shop in Edinburgh. It was released in Northern California in the late fall. This whisky has been finished in Amoroso sherry casks.  Smoke and sea salt jump out of the glass. This whisky is quite a bit more aggressively peaty than Talisker's 10 year and 18 year old whiskies. Nutty sherry flavors and hints of bitter chocolate slowly work their way through the peat.
