250254 - Abbona Dolcetto di Dogliani Sori dij But 2009Abbona Dolcetto di Dogliani Sori dij But 2009
'Sori' is Piedmontese dialect for the sunny south face of a hill. 'But' or Butti is the name of the hamlet where Anna Maria and her husband Franco's house and cellar are, a stunning spot in a very beautiful area.

This is classic Dogliani Dolcetto, fermented and aged in stainless steel. It shows great color, reddish purple and violet-tinged, aromas of blueberries and tealeaf, and some tea tannins to go with the abundant fruit on the palate. Dolcetto is one of the best table wines I know; so grill some lambchops, pour everyone a glass, and all will be right with the world. Oliver McCrum Importer

201658 - Aldo Conterno Barolo 2004Aldo Conterno Barolo 2004
91 points The Wine Advocate:Aldo Conterno’s 2004 Barolo is simply beautiful. A medium red, it presents a feminine expression of Nebbiolo in its perfumed, spiced red raspberries and cherries. This is a soft, accessible Barolo ideal for near and mid-term drinking that fully captures the essence of this great vintage. Beginning with the 2004 vintage, this wine includes fruit from 15-year-old vines in Colonnello, a vineyard with sandier soils that lies on the border with Barolo. In the past this fruit was used for the Langhe Favot but now it makes up about 30% of the blend for the Barolo. As a result this bottling now carries the Barolo designation rather than the Barolo Bussia name which was used for previous vintages. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2019. Antonio Galloni

204400 - Aldo Conterno Barolo Colonnello 2004Aldo Conterno Barolo Colonnello 2004
94 points The Wine Advocate:Conterno’s 2004 Barolo Colonnello reveals a core of ripe dark cherries and a beautifully layered, sweet personality with superb length and a refined, fresh finish. With air the wine’s perfumed, spiced qualities emerge to complete this terrific effort. The Colonnello vineyard lies on the Monforte border with Barolo, with which it shares several attributes. A higher percentage of sand in Colonnello gives the wine its signature aromatics and refined tannins. This is an especially successful vintage for this wine. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019. Frappato is a light ruby red with a fragrant and fruity bouquet. The taste of cherries and blackberries is envolped by a slight spiciness. It's gentle tannins have a great personality and are well balance making it particularly recommended as a pairing with semi-aged cheeses and grilled fish. Villa Italia Importer

250095 - Antinori Tignanello 2008Antinori Tignanello 2008
94 points The Wine Advocate:The 2008 Tignanello is unquestionably one of the wines of the vintage. The 2008 isn’t a huge or obvious Tignanello, rather it is a wine that impresses for its sublime elegance and precision. Understated layers of fruit caress the palate like cashmere in this impeccable, soft wine. There is not a hard edge to be found. Black cherries, tobacco, smoke and licorice are some of the notes that come through on the finish. The flavor profile is decidedly on the dark side, but the wine’s structure is medium in body and intensity. In 2008 the Tignanello has more energy, focus and length than the Solaia. It is a fabulous achievement! The 2008 Tignanello is 80% Sangiovese aged in 300-liter French oak barrels (1/3rd new), 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, both aged in 100% new 225-liter French oak barriques. 92 points The Wine Spectator: An appealing graphite aroma adds depth to the black currant, violet and cedar aromas and flavors in this svelte red, which is smooth, with finely woven tannins. The bright acidity drives the spicy finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese. Best from 2013 through 2021. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 9,166 cases made. 90 points The Wine Advocate:The 2009 Isola dei Nuraghi Perdera is fabulous. Layers of dark fruit, herbs, spices, and minerals flow from this exuberant, medium to full-bodied offering. Hints of smoke and tar add further nuance on the finish. This is a hugely rewarding wine for the money. Perdera is a blend of 90% Monica, 5% Carignano and 5% Bovale Sardo. 90 points The Wine Advocate:The 2009 Chianti Classico Brolio flows with expressive aromatics and layers of gorgeous radiant fruit all of which are woven in a silky, elegant fabric. 90 points The Wine Advocate:The 2007 Chianti Classico Castello di Brolio offers up rich, textured dark fruit in a succulent style that is very appealing. French oak gives the Castello di Brolio notable volume and body, in addition to an attractive smokiness that works quite nicely in this vintage. The Castello di Brolio can be enjoyed today for its forward fruit or cellared for another decade or so. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020. Antonio Galloni

92 points The Wine Spectator-A fruity Chianti, delivering attractive berry and vanilla aromas and flavors. Medium- to full-bodied, with silky tannins and a delicious finish. Balanced and very pretty. A new single-vineyard wine from Ricasoli. This is lovely now, but will be better with bottle age. Drink now. 110 cases made.

91 points The Wine Advocate:The 2009 Barbera d’Asti Monte Bruna is a gorgeous, radiant wine laced with expressive fruit, grilled herbs and minerals. It is a bit reserved next to the estate’s other 2009s, yet shows plenty of energy and fleshiness. The finish is beautiful and totally open. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019.

250218 - Ca' del Baio Barbaresco Marcarini 2007Ca' del Baio Barbaresco Marcarini 2007
92 points The Wine Advocate-The 2007 Barbaresco Marcarini is a shade weightier and richer than the Valgrande in its dark cherries, minerals, menthol, tar, new leather and cloves. This medium-bodied, vibrant Barbaresco possesses gorgeous depth and persistence, along with firm tannins that frame an exquisite finish. In this vintage I am struck by the detail and nuance in the Marcarini. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022. Antonio Galloni
