251058 - Abbaye Sylva Plana Les Novices Faugeres 2010Abbaye Sylva Plana Les Novices Faugeres 2010
From such a fabulous diversity of soils, Abbaye Sylva Plana produces several Cuvees, all expressing the Faugères bouquet and complexity. Made from Cinsault along with younger vines of Grenache and Carignan, Les Novices is a fruity and fresh, fleshy wine with just enough of southern and garrigues accents.

200445 - Chateau du Cedre 'Chateau du Cedre' Cahors 2008Chateau du Cedre 'Chateau du Cedre' Cahors 2008
The vines of Château du Cèdre root in two different types of soil: The terroirs, composed of stony clay and limestone, give straight wines with fine tannins, whereas more powerful and dense wines derive from soils composed of clay, sand and rich in pebble. A very good vintage in Cahors, with a beautiful late summer and excellent weather conditions during harvest. Beautiful intense purple red colour. The nose is pure and shows aromas of flowers (violet), red berries and spices. Well balanced and full bodied on the palate, lively acidity, silky tannins and very long aromatic persistence. 202133 - Domaine Berthoumieu Madiran Cuvee Charles de Batz 2008Domaine Berthoumieu Madiran Cuvee Charles de Batz 2008
Very ripe, rich Madiran that takes no prisoners. This wine succeeds in obtaining more fruit than tannin! The color is nearly opaque - - it doesn't get much darker than this. It displays notes of black fruit (blackcurrant and blackberry) along with just a hint of red fruit. There is a cedar-like creaminess to the oak which is extremely well-integrated. Tannins pick up on the finish but, let's face it, this is Madiran and that is to be expected. These tannins disolve when the wine is matched with richly flavored meats like leg of lamb, duck, goose or game. Charles Neal Importer

201750 - Domaine de l'Hortus Bergerie de l'Hortus Classique Blanc 2009Domaine de l'Hortus Bergerie de l'Hortus Classique Blanc 2009
This is an interesting blend for a white wine from this region. The resulting wine shows beautiful balance with the Chardonnay providing much of the backbone of acidity and the Sauvignon Blanc coming through with most of the aromatics in both the nose and on the palate. The viognier provides the glycerin on the mid-palate. The nose is of minerals, jasmin and a delicate grassiness imparted by the Sauvignon Blanc. The wine is rich on the palate with good crisp acidity for drinking over the next two years. Delicious summer wine!  Beaune Imports
