A miniscule 500 cases of the delicious 2010 Chateau Astruc Ste Eulalie Minervois is produced. An impressive blend of Syrah, Carignan, and Grenache, this wine is a knockout. Sophisticated aromas of violets, gentle smoke, spice and berries. Fleshy, impeccable balance. A top-notch alternative to more expensive Rhône wines.

The vines of Château du Cèdre root in two different types of soil: The terroirs, composed of stony clay and limestone, give straight wines with fine tannins, whereas more powerful and dense wines derive from soils composed of clay, sand and rich in pebble. A very good vintage in Cahors, with a beautiful late summer and excellent weather conditions during harvest. Beautiful intense purple red colour. The nose is pure and shows aromas of flowers (violet), red berries and spices. Well balanced and full bodied on the palate, lively acidity, silky tannins and very long aromatic persistence. 88 points The Wine Advocate:The 2010 Les Galets Dore, a blend of 40% Roussanne, 25% Grenache Blanc, 25% Vermentino and the rest Clariette and Marsanne, offers flowery notes intermixed with hints of honeysuckle, candle wax and fresh pears. This ripe, medium-bodied, flavorful, delicious white wine begs to be drunk with seafood. Drink it over the next year.

Very ripe, rich Madiran that takes no prisoners. This wine succeeds in obtaining more fruit than tannin! The color is nearly opaque - - it doesn't get much darker than this. It displays notes of black fruit (blackcurrant and blackberry) along with just a hint of red fruit. There is a cedar-like creaminess to the oak which is extremely well-integrated. Tannins pick up on the finish but, let's face it, this is Madiran and that is to be expected. These tannins disolve when the wine is matched with richly flavored meats like leg of lamb, duck, goose or game. Charles Neal Importer
